General Maths
Integrated tools
In all SACs and exams, General Maths students have access to the full functionality of a CAS calculator and a bound volume. Francis is the master of both and uses them to provide tailored help.
Bound volume
Francis provides 2 comb-bound topic summary booklets, one in Yr 11 and another in Yr 12. These detailed summaries save the student from copying notes from their text book, which is time wasted. And there is a detailed index that can be used, during their assessments, to find particular topics. Students annotate these notes with the problem solving tips they need as they move through the year so they contain exactly the information they need.
Instructions on how to use the calculator are also included, along with a listing of the programs which Francis has installed.
Calculator ready
The TI nspire is an amazing piece of kit, but students don't have the time to learn how to properly exploit it, so Francis provides a suite of programs that lighten the learning load and speed up calculations.
For the 'Measurement' topic, at the start of Term 1, students are provided with a program to calculate Total Surface Area, because the protracted nature of these calculations often lead students to make arithmetic errors.

Students enter numbers in the white cells. Answers appear in the yellow cells.
In the exams, students are expected to crunch a phenomenal amount of numbers in a very short space of time. So pre-loaded apps save very precious time.
