Maths Methods

Calculator : Skill them up. Make them fluent.

In addition to learning maths, students are expected to master a complex piece of technology. If they can use it well, that expensive calculator will extend their problem soving ability, and save precious minutes in the exam.

mathsBooster provides a comprehensive list of all the significant functions and provides problem solving tips as students are walked through them.

There are at least six programs, written by mathsBooster, that can be installed to efficiently deal with recurring exam questions.

It might seem like a small thing, but students should be discouraged from using the mouse pad because there is always a faster, button pressing option.

Summary booklet: Annotated, comb-bound volume for the exam.

Hand written notes are time consuming to create and hard to organise. Better to have a typed summary, with blank pages for students' own notes, and take that into the exam.

Extra information is included on the basis of experience. A gallery of all the graphs is included to remind students about domains, and where asymptotes sit.

At the front of the booklet is the brute force area, which includes a four step tree diagram and a sine wave. These pages hold tools for tackling those exam questions which just have to be done by hand.

Past papers : Preparing for the future.

A suite of past papers is available, from 2024 to 2020. With fully prepared solutions, students can assess their exam readiness and evolve a problem solving strategy.
