But divergent from what? The average of two whole numbers, 5 and 6 for example, is a decimal number, 5.5, that is not in the original list. The average person, like that decimal number, does not exist.

Humans are social animals, who thrive when they cooperate in groups. Sophisticated groups with a broad range of specialist skills, and a wide spectrum of intellectual orientation. The infinite variety of humanity has their wiring installed according to the unique map contained in their DNA.

Aspies have an extra helping of information processing neurons, compared to the average person. This means that the ratio of information processing neurons to connective neurons is different. So Aspies have strengths in information processing but are less able to share information across their whole brain to create an overall picture. When Aspies learn something it's like they are trying to do a jigsaw puzzle without being able to see the picture on the lid of the box. So it takes Aspies longer to learn something. But when we do know it, we understand it better than most because we know every piece of the puzzle, and how they fit together.
